We promote Canterbury yachting and represent the interests of all the yacht clubs and class associations in the area. The city of Christchurch is perfectly located for sailing. Based on the East Coast of the South Island, with a large river in the North, an estuary close to the centre of town, the beautiful harbour and Port of Lyttelton and Banks Peninsula which is a great place for cruising. The prevailing Easterly sea breeze provides the clubs with an almost guaranteed wind source on summer days.

The Cherub is a two-person 12 foot racing dinghy with asymmetric spinnaker and twin trapezes. Just twelve feet long, weighing around 70kgs fully rigged for sailing, the Cherub combines spectacular performance with the on the edge handling characteristics only found in true lightweight skiffs. We came, we froze, we blasted. The water sadly not much warmer.
